Croke Park to Heuston Station?

I'll be in Croke Park next Sunday for the Kerry V Kildare game, the late train got booked out so I had to opt for the 17:00 service to Cork with a change at Mallow back to Killarney. The match will be finished at 15:40 and I'd have around an hour and 20 mins to get to Heuston to make my train.

What I'm wondering is if there is any bus routes nearby Croke Park which would get me out close to Heuston station so I wouldn't have to walk to O'Connell Street to catch the Luas to Heuston? Also bear in mind possible road closures and the tide of Dublin supporters coming against me for the 16:00 Dublin V Fermanagh game also.

Your only option would be the 123 on Summerhill to James's Street, but you'd probably be better speedwalking to O'Connell Street and taking the LUAS.

Would it not be quicker to walk towards Connolly and get the luas from there or busaras

On match days in Croke Park, bus timetables are seriously hampered with and tis unreliable. You are best walk into town to get a Luas or get a taxi outside the ground or just walk to Heuston if you are reasonably mobile.

for a distance of 2.2 miles @15min walking speed per mile, thats actually barely over a half hour walk.
Never would have thought it was as near.
I tried to drive it after a match in Croke Park once (was being a smart arse looking to go from Drumcondra to Castleknock via Chapelizod) and took a good hour to get as far as Heuston, so walking is definitely a good idea.

You'ld easily loose minutes waiting for the green man to cross roads though. bringing it to 45 mins.

The Op's from Kerry, doubt he has a dublin bike card....

I'd allow an extra 30 minutes onto the walk for getting through crowds and in case OP is on the other side of the stadium. Probably won't need as long as that but if it's a worst case scenario it's a useful cushion.

Quickest way out is to go to the Canal End, there's an exit from the southern part of it over the canal to North circular road.

Although if the Jacks are playing the second match, the exits might not be open.

When there are a few of us we get a taxi straight back to Heuston, we've often been lucky and happily shared with others doing the same thing. It's usually around 10-12 euro. If you don't want to walk the full way, I'd walk back and get the Luas.
