Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

hi all, myself and the soon to be mrs spuckler have previously talked about doing a road trip through parts of europe, taking in ski resorts when the weather is good and cities or other tourist spots when not so good.

now it looks like this might become a reality, we're looking at delaying our honeymoon to head off for a month straight after christmas :D

has anyone here done anything like this before? either way, any thoughts on how doable this might be? in my head it seems like a potentially amazing trip, any reason i shouldn't be so excited? :o

I've often thought about it but never really had the chance to do it. It just makes sense as you can take in multiple resorts in relative close proximity to each other and you can easily go to a place with the best conditions. Plus you can actually drive around resorts and get recommendations for places to stay that are close to lifts etc.. I actually thought about doing it in a camper van, assuming that there are trailer parks open at this time of year.

Somewhere like the Dolomites would be ideal. Or you could take in resorts like the 3v, Val d'Isere and Tignes and Les Arcs, all of which are geographically not far from each other (I think).

    Would be epic.

a month almost certainly isn't enough time but it's the most i'll get (if i even get that long) so have to make the most of it!

i had thought about a campervan and i've certainly seen plenty of them in resorts before but reckon it'd just be too much work for my liking. i've done a month in a campervan in new zealand in good weather, wouldn't fancy it in winter time!

i'd like to have variety so don't think we'd confine ourselves to 1 area, plus i think that this is a good chance to see some smaller / less well known resorts that we mightn't normally go to with irish operators. lots to consider so i;m sure i'll be asking a lot of questions here :D

Are you driving from here or picking up transport there?? I would start in the Chamonix valley and the areas close bye, Megeve, st Gervais etc, Mont Blanc tunnel to courmayer and the Aosta valley then Kandersteg rail tunnel to Brig in Switzerland and than you have Verbier, Saas fee, Zermatt and many others if you go east Murren, Grindwald etc No more than a 3/4 hour drive link any of them
