Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Anyone know where one would buy a replacement manhole cover?
Problem is it appears not to be a standard size (its 480x480mm)
Ive seen goodwins will make to order non-standard sizes but its not the cheapest (e125)

    Any ideas? ta

Take out old grid and put in a standard 600x600 frame&cover.

Any local steel or engineering shop will make one up for you. Or just do as Mad M says increase the ope to take a larger standard cover.

I think Chadwicks do them for around 25 or 30 euros, but I'm not sure.

You can get them in light gauge galvanized but not very suitable for traffic. If it's likely to be driven over better to get a heavy duty M / H cover usually made from chequered plate. Some engineering shops will have them lying around from various jobs and probably much cheaper than a Builders suppliers. I needed a 900 by 600 myself last year and got one for 50 euro as above.

Thanks for the ideas, not really practical tho to make the ope larger its set into paving, and I dont fancy taking that up and arranging for the slabs to be cut to fit a new opening! Im seeking the laziest way to resolve a dangerous manhole cover :p

Any suggestions for a local engineering 'shop' in South Dublin?

Have a look in the Golden pages for your area. I know of one in Ballymount Walkinstown if that's near you.
