Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    LARK IN THE PARK

Galway United Football Club is planning a huge outdoor gig to be held at Terryland Park on July 30th. Aslan, Brian Kennedy, Hothouse Flowers and the Conway Sisters will rock Galway in the first outdoor concert ever to be held at the soccer stadium.

Organisers are dubbing the event "lark in the park" and are expecting the tickets to sell out quickly. The show promises six hours of non-stop music in an outdoor extravaganza and the line up promises to offer something for everyone. The event will also raise funds for the Special Olympics "Get up and Go" campaign.

The show will see Terryland Park transformed for the day. A stage will be constructed at the Dyke Road end of the pitch whilst the playing surface itself will be specially covered for the event with protective covering being brought in from England. There will be a full range of catering facilities available around the pitch on the day of the event.

A strong security operation will be enforced on the day to ensure that the event runs smoothly and that there will be little or no disturbance to local residents.

Tickets priced at €49.50 plus booking fee go on sale this week at all Zhivago outlets in Galway. Expecting a strong demand for tickets from the Sligo public to see the Conway Sisters, tickets can also be purchased at Star Records, as well as nationally through all ticketmaster outlets.

Nick Leeson, the Commercial Manager of Galway United Football Club has said,
"we have to stress that this is a ticket-only event. There will be no access to this venue whatsoever without a ticket.
"This is the first time an outdoor concert of this type is being held at Terryland Park. The fantastic line-up will ensure that the Special Olympics will benefit greatly from the event. We are hoping to raise in the region of €30,000 to train 30 children for the Special Olympics.
"He added that he was hopeful that the 5000 tickets would sell fast and that events such as this may provide the club with a regular opportunity to provide something different for the local community."

Get all your friends down. it starts at 2 and ends at half 8. there selling alcohol at the venue, and when its over you can have a great night out in Galway. its the august bank holiday so why not make a weekend of it.

    agreed with rabbitinlights, it's a terrible line-up.

And I'm also sick of all this fund-raising for the Special Olympics.

Yeah right, don't think the Conway Sisters have ever pulled a good crowd in Sligo, even when playing free gigs. :(
