Mint 16 Wifi suddenly stopped working

The wifi on my laptop suddenly crashed and now I can only use a wired connection.
Wireless wont turn on and it says my broadband wireless is Out of range.

Anyone any suggestions, or is this most likely to be a hardware issue.

From a shell can you paste the output of:

    lspci
    lsmod

    Thanks.

You shouldn't be using Mint 16 now, support has stopped for this interim release - move up to Mint 17.1 as soon as possible, it has support until 2019.

Might seem a bit obvious, but is there any chance you hit the hardware toggle switch for your wifi card and switched it off?

Obvious but correct! Thanks philkav. I hadn't even realised there was a wifi toggle switch as its a refurb laptop I only use occasionally.
