Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    :mad::mad::mad:

    I have just completed a marathon session with the above blasted belts.What a nightmare.The manual says you get some plastic "tools" that come with the belts to help you get them on because there are no tensioners.They are just held on my pure tension.

    According to the book, it makes it sound a bit easier than it really is.The belts I got did not have those plastic tools.I tried to keep turning the engine with a socket on the crankshaft pulley bolt, but it still would not go on.I eventually had to remove the two bolts for the alternator and "try" to lever it back on.

    I used a metal pry bar which shorted out on the alternator twice:o.I had to use a timber lever instead.Yeah I should have removed the battery earth first, but I did not want to get the code for the radio.The second belt, power steering was slightly easier but its not completely on right on the crank pulley but I hope both belts will stretch a little and hopefully the PS belt will seat on the pulley better and I can lever it on better after some time.

    The only reason I noticed the condition of the belts was that the aircon packed up, which still has to be repaired and I had a look to see if there was any leaks underneath.So anyone with this car,(16v especially) make sure these belts are in good condition and if you are changing them yourself, you are in for some serious grief, so BE WARNED!!
