Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    I have a fairly decent Semi-Acoustic Guitar, a Squier Affinity, Zoom 505II, Marshall CD15W and a set of Pearl Forum Drums in a room at the minute. Having good craic makin music with my bro/friends but want to add a mic into it.

    At the min i hvae the drums set up solo (no mics r anything obviously cos its only a small room), the squier going into the zoom and then into the amp, which can be heard perfectly over the drums. Which leaves the acoustic guitar drowned out.

    I'm looking at getting a mic too, cos who likes playin songs with no words? The mic set i was lookin at was the Shure SM58LC (http://www.netzmarkt.de/thomann/thoiw6_artikel-169587.html). I was thinking i could get one of these (http://www.netzmarkt.de/thomann/thoiw6_behringer_ub802_eurorack_prodinfo.html) and plug the acoustic guitar and the mic into that, then into the new AMP? Would that work ok? The AMP i was gonna get is the Zoom Fire 15, which has some built in effects similar to the pedal i have. Its 169 on thomann but only 149 in waltons at the moment.

    Anyone any better ideas on how to do this? Any opinions on the equipment/alternatives?

    The mic is great, and the mixer should be perfectly adequate. But a vocal will be muffled to the point of inaudibility through the amp, and the acoustic won't sound the best either.

    Single bass/mid speakers that you get in guitar amps have a frequency response of around 75-5000Hz. Just above 5kHz they fall off rapidly, and unfortunately that's just where the most important frequencies for voice intelligibility are. What you need is a 2-way speaker, one with a bass/mid and a high frequency driver (aka a tweeter or horn, though horn is technically the name of the plastic horn placed in front of the driver). The HF driver will carry the rest of the high frequencies (5000-20,000Hz).

    Sorry if I'm being a bit long winded here. What I'd recommend (in order of preference) is one of these, these or these (if you're feeling a bit cheap). Not sure the last would stand up the kit that well without distorting though. The only difference mentioned between the first two seems to be the range of the horn, so if you're really tight on cash I think the second one would be fine.

    If you really want the effects, you could try and get a larger mixer with some inbuilt. Or get some pedals and plug them in via the auxilliary and effects returns/line inputs.

    You're going the right direction apart from i'd get a mixer with more mic inputs you never know when you're going to need them, I've got a ub1204 pro - 4 mic and 2 set of stereo - twice what your contemplating getting, T.b.h i regret not get one with maybe 8 mic ports and 4 set of stereo,

    Amps - Get a power amp if you can afford - I've got a yamaha p3500s stereo power amp, Connected to a set of hifi stereo speakers - works decent enough - saving up for yamaha s112v's


    Mic - That mic your thinking of getting is excellent , i have 3 of them,

    Thats just my 2 cents

    yeah, i think u have a point about the mic's...i'll get the one with 4! Looking into the 2 way speakers, not too up on them though, what one would be best suited to my situation? bear in mind it doesnt need to be THAT loud, just loud enough to get over the drums! I'll also research the stereo power amps (new term to me)....

    i think it's a hybrid of shut and up, not sure though, i just presumed.
