Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    North Point, Florida - June 30, 2011 -

Florida police are investigating a high school principal who hypnotized three students who later died. They say Doctor George Kenney admitted to hypnotizing a 16-year-old boy who committed suicide one day after a private session. Kenney hypnotized two other students who died tragically, one took her own life and another died in a car crash. The doctor didn't immediately admit to having private sessions with the students. But many people at school and in the community knew what he was doing.

One teacher told investigators Kenney insisted on parental permission. A school report found that he continued the practice after three separate orders to stop. Kenney claims the students were happy to be hypnotized. Many were taking part in competitive sports and he said the hypnosis helped them focus. But he also acknowledged his passion for helping may have caused him to use quote "poor judgment."

Kenney hypnotized up to 75 people at the school, including students, parents, staff members and their children. A teacher at the school was also killed in a car crash while driving to work. It is not known whether she was hypnotized by Kenney.

Heard about this story earlier. Freaky stuff! Is a coincidence or something more sinister?

I ate a cheese sandwich once and then fell down the stairs.
    Freaky or what.

Hypnostism is no more than the power of suggestion, psychology and social influence.

Paul McKenna beat his lawsuit by proving this to a court, I'm sure when lawsuits go to this case it'll be proven again.

So yes, a coincidence and reporting based on ignorance.

    Simple answer: Yes.

There's an area you have to be careful in, and thats dealing with someone who already has suicidal thoughts. An ill judged session, without a comprehensive case study, and you can end up giving them the extra confidence to do something, totally innocently, and it turns out that that was what they wanted to do.

Car crashes, i'd be more worried about the roads in the area.

Be interesting to know the cause of the car crash that killed the student, the one that killed the teacher and if the teacher had been undergoing hypnosis.

    Yeah, I'm with bluewolf here.

Those 3 students possibly all also lived in a house, slept in a single bed, smoked, were middle children, masturbated, played video games, were bullied, owned adidas runners, and so on.

You could come up with a million and one links between them.

The fact that the principal saw them for private sessions probably means that they all suffered from depression, stress, anxiety, or some other psychological problems or illnesses.
This would indicate to me to be a much stronger theory of linkage than the one given in the op.

(Also, I'm confused as to whether the principal was also a gp, psychologist, or what? And it doesn't give any indication as to the purpose of the private sessions- as in counselling of some sort, or just for the craic)
(OKay, re-read it - says something about sports performance)

    Was it with Rohipnol...?

a person under the effects of hypnosis will almost always act to selfpreserve, and avoid injury. Any competent hypnotist will throw in something like "when it is safe and appropriate to do so" into their patter as a double safety measure.

The question is: did he have sex with them first, then told them to kill themselves?
