Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

We are a group of students who have to found a new company as a business plan project for this semester.

We want to establish the following company:

The beer-bike is a fun bike suitable for 16 persons to ride at the same time. Each chair has a bar counter and two pedals to contribute driving the bike. The 16 chairs surround a bar area, where a beer barrel and tab are installed. The bar area and all chairs are covered with a roof with ample storage and loudspeakers to play music. The driver sits in front of the bar and has the control of driving.

During the drive the passengers enjoy the sights of Dublin while drinking a cold, refreshing beer of their own choice. It is possible to bring your own CD during the tour for your personal entertainment.

All in all this beer-bike offers a great opportunity to experience a different way of partying outside. It combines sightseeing with drinking and fun.

As drinking in public is not allowed in Ireland, we do not know excactly, if the beerbike is legal in Dublin. Could anyone help us with and tell us what the legal situation is?

Taking off my mod hat for a second... and not trying to be rude, but you want to set up a business and you want free legal advice on whether or not it's possible in Ireland?

I hope we all get pretty steep discounts! :D

Really sorry about this, but get professional legal advice. As you will be, or have founded an incorporated vehicle which you can use to fund your activities then you can afford or save to afford legal advice from a professional source.

The conditions for such a business model would be tight at best.

    The Charter is the Charter.

This is not necessarily accurate. There is no legislation about drinking in public. All these rules are contained in certain bye-laws.
You would have to contact the local council regarding this type of thing. You probably also wouldn't be able to get a licence to serve alcohol tbh.

You could find out the information, but it'd be a lot of phone calls between yourselves and the council and other bodies in charge of licensing.
