what to wear with this dress

ok ladies - need your help.

I am gonna wear the attached dress to my niece's communion.

It looks pretty plain, which it is - but it is a fab fit.

I need a jacket/cardi/wrap or something. Bear in mind that the dress is quite chunky. Colour suggestions?

I think if I can get the jacket or what ever sorted then the shoes and other accessories will follow easily.

Think something like these from Wallis would go well with it. Thats assuming black would be the best colour to wear with it

Other than a shrug why not consider a wrap. There are loads of them on sale at the min in Monsoon etc and even some really good value scarves in Dunnes that could be opened out and woren as a wrap. Finish it off with a nice pair of shoes/wedge sandals and some black and red accessories and your sorted!!

yes I was thinking black as it is the easiest colour to find but I am also thinking of gold perhaps. I tried on a gold bolero with the dress from monsoon but it was too light for the dress. I also was thinking cream and tried on a cream jacket with it but the jacket was too heavy for the dress.

I will check wollis on friday and go from there. I will also have a look at some shawls but I am crap at I am thinking the weather may not be good so would like something warmer. Or I could go with both and then pick either on the day.

Is this a 'closet' dress? Their dresses are fab for the price especially if bought online!

I'd go with cream shoes or maybe some smart brown wedges and a mix of brown (wooden) and gold accessories or else gold shoes like you suggested.

yes it is a Closet dress - OMG - i am astonished at the quality of it considering it was only €59!!! I would love to go with gold/brown but the jacket/shrug/wrap is proving to be difficult.

I know, the quality of those dresses are great, they are even better value on the Dorothy Perkins websites because you can pay in sterling.

When is the communion? I reckon the shops will be full of gold clothes in the next few weeks.

It wouldn't really fit in with the occassion of a communion? A bit dull! Well in my opinion it wouldn't. I think your idea of gold would be lovely, or even cream

yeah I know I could do black but I do not want to.

I am gonna go to town with all these ideas in my head and dress in hand and see what happens..

Gorgeous dress OP, I love Closet, had to pick between 2 of their dresses there last week and I'm sooo going back for the other on payday! I'm wearing mine to a communion too, must be that time of year!

Silver would be another nice option if you can't find suitable gold accessories.

These are just a few bits and bobs from Debs, but there are probably a good few bits in new look, and maybe awear or dunnes and penneys too.

A while back I saw a lovely cropped navy jacket, that had white and navy striped lining on the inside, and a red corsage. It might have been in Dunnes or Penneys I think.
A nice belt, and some silver jewelery would pull it all together.:)

Dorothy Perkins stock them, doesn't seem to be much info about the brand online though. Got an amazing silky cat print dress by them a few months ago, love it

Dorothy perkins is the best value for the dresses and has a very big selection.......

They also sell them on awear but I find that website so tedious to use so I never use it.

They sell them on dresses.ie aswell, would never normally recommend that site as they put the price up for everything but their closet prices seem to be on a par with the other sellers euro prices.

I've noticed a few other websites have started to stock a few bits and pieces from the brand lately so it won't be long now before the brand is everywhere.

Hi Ladies, well I did my shopping this morning and here are my finds. I am happy enough with them. At least I did not have to resort to black. Also the look is quite casual as it is for a communion and not a wedding.

And while I am not usually into metallic themes I really like the bolero and this colour seems to be everywhere now. I love the shoes - they are from Faith. The bolero is John Rocha. The clutch bag is a beaut the jewellery compliments the outfit well I think, all from Debenhams. What do ye think?

yeah i know - the shoes are to die for. And they are high but so comfortable to wear. I love Faith shoes though. I had a pair of boots from faith and they lasted 3 years. They were €85 which I think is good value for good shoes.

change of mind on the look for the dress..

I am scrapping the bolero and initial ear rings and I am now going with a mink wrap and gold leaf ear rings and the attached new clutch bag.

I am not mad about this hand bag but i did not want to spend too much on one as I would not get much use out of it. Though I think it is better than the previous one.

I just thought the bolero and previous handbag made me look a bit old; I think this look is much more classic and now. i do not think the wrap makes the out fit look too formal.

What ye think? Oh and I am keeping the initial shoes. And wearing no necklace - just cleavage.
