Microsoft is pushing Windows 10 on the world at the rate of Tkm/h. It seems that they will attempt to enforce Win 10 via Windows update. This has the potential to create havoc with legacy systems and software. No doubt the MS EULA purports to cover the company from financial exposure for these risks. Add to that the windows spying / big data issue. Stealing your company proprietary info, or personal info. http://www.techworm.net/2014/10/microsofts-windows-10-permission-watch-every-move.html Stealing Europe’s information – gov and private. Windows 10 tries to push the victim into cloud storage – with no guarantee where one’s data will be stored – be in IE, EU, or pretend EU/Brexit states (five eyes countries like GB).

The EU has been dozily silent about these risks of theft of intellectual property by Microsoft and others. Perhaps they have been too busy with fixing the Greek and other “peripheral country” mess from the ECB’s mis-management of EUR currency rules?

The launch is scheduled for 2015.07.29 – ten days from now.

    Wake up time…..

That is unreal! But I am equally not that surprised!

Current Windows 10 kernel version number v10.0.10240
Windows 8.1 kernel version number: v10.0.10240

Odd jump. But the reason I looked is that the problematic releases have been those with major changes to the kernel (vista, win2k) while the well-received releases have tended to use pretty much the same kernel as previously (xp, windows 7, 8, 8.1)

It will be a recommended update.

I know all Pro and Home Windows 7/8 (basically all licences not based on volume) machines are getting a popup in the notification area offering the sign up to Windows 10.

The article in the OP is from last October and talks specifically about the technical preview, which likes betas and RC's traditionally has a very different EULA to the final product.

Every time there's a big upgrade someone tries to make a big deal about compatibility and security. It's always the same.

The amount of clickbait dodgy ads on that site make me doubt its reliability as a proper source of anything.

There have been compatibility issues with major kernel updates for Windows though.

The Register is notorious for BS.
