Hi, I'm just wondering is there anyone out there who can help me on this. I need to get Moulded Insoles due to fallen arches. They are €350 if I want to go ahead. I'm in the process of appealing Invalidity Pension and I can't get job speakers cos I'm not able to work. I've no income since April 2013 and barely scraping by on my husbands income. My cousin who's on illness had to get these insoles before Christmas and he got his for free. Hes on the dole . Does anyone know if I get the invalidity would I be able to get them then ? I have gp only med card €4 over for ful medical card even though my medics is €70 per month? Joke

    Hello Pobtc

To the best of my knowledge to qualify for this benefit you might need a Medical Card. To get this card it is means tested. As you are not yet receiving Invalidity Pension this amount cannot be included in your assessment which is to your advantage.

In relation to the Moulded Insoles I agree they are very expensive and if you do not qualify for benefit towards them, if you can afford it at all to get them as, I feel you might find them very helpful. I say this as I have them and find them a great benefit.

Very best of luck with your Appeal, Up to date Consultants Report and further medical evidence would be to your benefit when making your appeal. Also if you are stuck make a visit to your local Citizens Advice which you should find very helpful in this regard, and this service is confidential.

    Take care and Happy Easter.

Thanks for that. I've decided to go ahead and get them . Hoping to claim some of cost back on med expenses next year. I know I need them and I'll regret not getting them .waited nearly 2 years for appointment to see specialist . As regard invalidity . Can't do any more. I'm waiting 11 months for answer . It's all soo frustrating .
