Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Teaching in Kuwait.

    Hi all,


    I've been offered a Primary Teaching job in Kuwait for this coming school year.


    Has anyone any experience of life out there and could guide me a little guidance to your quality of life in Kuwait?


    Very tempted based on the package they have offered me.

    Kuwait is a dry country & while not as conservative as Saudi, it's not as liberal as UAE. I had a good social life, usually revolving around clubs, lots of expats here & you'll make friends quickly.

    Ah cool that sounds good. Not worried about the drinking. Interested to see how a society copes without it.


    I am worried about making friends when there so thank you for the reassurance regarding clubs/expats.

    I wouldn't worry at all about making friends, you'll all be living/working/socialising together so you'll get to know people fast! This can be good & bad! Prob met more English than Irish people. It's a good opportunity to save money, as apart from holidays & eating out there really isn't a lot to spend it on. Also make sure you take DES forms to get stamped for incremental pay when you get back ( think you can count 5 years). Like a lot of Mid East countries, it's really what you make of it, enjoy it for what it is....an experience!

    I know several people who worked as teachers in the UAE, and most of them have negative views of their time there. Two hated the place- so much so that they would break down in tears whenever they had to return after a holiday. Another didn't particularly like it, but not to that extent. And the last had a decent enough time, but prefers it in the UAE.
