Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Not for me, no thanks.
    Definitely didn't upset me lol.

I just thought your reasoning for not wanting that text completely missed the whole point.

Here's one just for you :D

    How very droll.

    Not for me, no thanks.
I thought the original idea was that we would recognise each other not advertise boards as such.

I'm with you on this one IG. For me, I think we should put the boards logo or reference to it simply because its the platform that we use to talk about things. If I wanted to plug boards specifically then I'd just put the boards slogan on the side of my bus.

My thinking behind all of this is to have a simple way of us recognizing each other when we're out and about, with a simple opt out of not putting one on your bus if you don't want to.

I think the logo of the motorhome is more suitable really, due to the MH reference and boardsie inside the image. Therefore anyone who is familiar with the forum will instantly recognize the image when they see it, and to outsiders it'll be just another bonkers sticker on a motorhome.

Neonjack, can you tidy up the image a little, and maybe remove the black shadow from under the wheels?

How about even putting www.boards.ie on the bottom as a piece of text under the image?

Actually, can you have a look at zazzle.co.uk and see if you can get the image to fit in their bumper sticker make and do box? Funnily enough, it doesn't give the dimensions of the sticker area they have there, and the logo is quite small when you try to fit it in, like below:

    untitled_110.jpg

Also, it says that it should be in High DEF to print better

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,692 ✭✭✭Dublin_Gunner

Looking at the dimensions of the sticker on that site, it might be best to separate the van image from the text, and have them side by side.

Alternatively - don't use that site, and send to a local printer who won't restrict you on the dimensions or aspect. Have a circular bumper sticker if you want.

Or even a bumper sticker the shape of the camper van. Sure, there'll be an initial extra cost of getting a cutting forme made (about €80 or so) but once that's done just leave it with the printer and print as many or as few as you want, when you want.

There's a developer kit at this link for a number of boards graphics:

That's what I was using, not much in it really, and no vector graphics.

    Hi Sheriff,

I agree with your post but think that the black under the camper makes it look more real. Wheels/feet firmly on the ground. Most of the time at least. As they say, clean side up and dirty side down.

Wouldn't be too keen on the boards web address being on it. Might get people joining just to post about my slow-mobile holding up the traffic:D.

I think that Neonjack has got it just right, with perhaps, a bit of cleaning up as you say.

  • Registered Users Posts: 226 ✭✭Neonjack

I've fooled around with it a little to allow for the sticker size (11 inches by 3).

    sticker_2.jpg

The red line comes from my snipping tool and wouldn't be on the finished sticker. Any part of the design can still be changed.

I personally prefer the original effort you had Neonjack. The rectangle bumper stickers are a bit dated at this stage imo, would it be possible to get the sticker with a rounded cut in the shape of the camper?

I agree with stevire about the original being best.
The black underneath does make it look as though it's on the road.

As to the shape, cut in the shape of the camper I would think will come at a high price. You have to pay for the wasted material when anything is being shaped.

I would think that most of us would stick them on the body of the vehicle, so why not just stick to a square or slightly oblong?.

Also I'm, personally, still not keen on the web address being there, but if they are square those of us who want to could trim that off. (Unless, of course, boards are contributing to the cost!).

Fair play to all for making the effort with the different versions but I like the Neonjack version the best, especially the camper shape and the black underneath. The www doesn't bother me either way really.

    Would happily take one. :)

Yeah, I can imagine how frustrating it must be, getting stuck behind you're olds-mobile...:D......Cos my transit is such a rocket.....

Right then. First and foremost big thanks for all the help from all the people here, most of all to the guys coming up with the designs.

Neonjack, can we drop off the web address from the logo like the old goat has suggested (:D:D) and just go with the original design of the camper with the shadow underneath it.

As for the size of the image, it does seem that those sites are overly restrictive on size and could well just spoil what we're after.

Is the size of the image itself big enough if it was printed? In terms of waste and cost it might be an idea to just trim the image down to have a small white border around the image to minimise waste?

If you like, I'll do up the camper van design, and do your keyline etc for the cutting forme.

I don't know if neonjack has the tools to make this properly print ready with the proper keylines etc?

If he does, great, but the offer is there :)

Not yet no. Waiting on one of the lads to come back with a high res image and we'll take it from there. Might visit the local printers to see what they can do with it.

This is where I left it. We had gone with the design from Neonjack, and I was waiting on DublingGunner or NeonJack to give us a HD version of it to bring to the printers.

I'll PM the guys and see if they can help out.

Not sure. Was thinking of heading down to my local print shop when I have a design to see what the story would be.

No words from the two designers yet anyway.

Most people seemed to be in agreement that the design by Neonjack on post #40 was the one to go with.
    Just tidied up a little.

    Size and shape?

    about 150mm x 80mm ?

Big enough to be seen by those travelling at 100kph (as they wizz past me).:D

What do people think about the size?

My suggestion was only because I had my cheque book in front of me and a ruler. So I made it a little shorter but the same width.

Haven't really thought about how it would look on a camper!:o.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,213 ✭✭✭Aidan_M_M

I would say maybe a little bigger?

Yeah, maybe a little bigger than cheque book size alright.

See what he can do. I'm for some reason under the impression that we'd need a high resolution version of the image in order to go to print, but I could be wrong.

As regards a quantity, hard to know. I've added a poll for people to vote on it to get an idea of numbers.
