Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Previous work by a Director or Writer or a review by a critic that knows what they are talking about and can reference its influences.

    Other.

Whether or not I can get a lift to the cinema.

Apart from that, I will see anything. Usually whatever is being hyped up at the time

trying to pick options made me think what actually makes me go see a film

I would have to say word of mouth but then everyone opinion is different.

I say its mainly how i feel about the film myself and the genre and whether the trailer seems good.

    Well boards of course!

Hmm well actually I hear about what the film is about and then do a small calculation based upon what friends think. But if it is about cool sci fi stuff I'll see it no matter what.

I usually flick through Empire magazine every month and find them very consistant. My opinion differs here and there but thats to be expected.

I'm very thankful they recommended City of God a month back. I wouldn't have given it a 2nd look in the listings and it was worth going out of ones way to see.

word of mouth really. and also if it is a person who i know has the same kinda taste in films as me, that helps. also if it is a movie that looks a seems different from all the other usual, predictable, boring, dime-a-dozen films. that helps

All of the above except for reviews.

    Trailers mainly...

I never listen to any reviews/word of mouth, as many a time I've seen great films that have been totally slated by these sources. If I actually listen to people, I'd be down on many a good film.

ah yes but what if you enjoyed the movie all the more JUST BECAUSE everyone had slated it so, thus lowering your expectations and pleasently surprising you???
