If you don't want Sky Sports, then Pay TV is nearly pointless.
If you want lots of pay channels at best quality, then Sky Sat TV is best.

All the channels which were the reason for Cable TV and MMDS are now FTA on Freesat.

TV content is poorer than it used to be. The TV channels are killing TV, not netflix. Also there are too many TV channels for ITV / UTV / RTE /C4. The National channels need to concentrate on Local content creation. 90% of TV is now USA imports. It's largely junk.

So it's not a simple "TV is a dying market". UPC offers best Broadband and Netflix Access. For Free TV Saorview + Freesat is best. Sky offers "best" pay TV.

2300 of their lost TV subs were from MMDS, in those areas did they retain those same 2300 with Broaband and Phone connection?

MMDS generally serves non-cabled/rural areas so no UPC internet or phone services.

In certain places MMDS feeds small UPC cabled areas with broadband also carried on the same cable IIRC from posts over in the Cable & Digital TV forum. Not sure which category these subscribers would fall into, MMDS or digital cable?

MMDS is particularly poor value Pay TV compared to Sky and it was poorly designed & implemented, especially the ex Chorus parts. Basically Sky Sports for people that don't want a Sky dish, or don't realise the alternatives of Freesat + Saorview or Sky if Pay TV is wanted.

UPC had hoped to improve it and add fixed wireless Broadband. Comreg had other ideas and MMDS has less spectrum than it had originally.

It will probably close in 2016.

MMDS was the solution for areas with no cable. Due to repeated cable damage some Limerick City areas had become MMDS (i.e. Near Punches & ESB) but UPC has recabled that some while ago and they get 100Mbps Broadband.

Likely they count as cable, the MMDS is just cheap feed. Since UPC took over some have been upgraded to two way licensed Links not relying on MMDS or possibly even fibre. After MMDS closes they will be either closed, upgraded to 2 way microwave link (with Broadband) or Fibre backhaul (with broadband). I don't how many have satellite feeds. Certainly some UPC cable areas are Satellite fed (or partially satellite).

Saorview has 653,000 but I assume alot of them also have FTA Sat, Broadband and even Pay TV services also.
