    1. What is your budget? [700 for the computer about 200-300 for monitor, keyboard, mouse ect.]

    2. What will be the main purpose of the computer? [I'm mainly going to use it for DAYZ]

    3. Do you need a copy of Windows? [No, I have an old copy of vista ultimate somewhere]

    4. Can you use any parts from an old computer? [no]

    5. Do you need a monitor? [Yes]

5a. If yes, what size do you need. [24inch]

    6. Do you need any of these peripherals? [monitor, keyboard, mouse]

    7. Are you willing to try overclocking? [Maybe depending how it runs]

    8. How can you pay? [Bank Transfer/Credit Card/Laser]

    9. When are you purchasing? [Either I will purchase now or if you guys say wait a bit I will wait if improvements are not too far off]

    10. If you need help building it, where are you based? [Galway/Roscommon]

I have a description of a quick build I picked here,

    HV20X835DE AMD FX-8350 Prozessor, Boxed, Sockel AM3+ 151,51 €
    HV1136MMDE MSI 970A-G43, AMD Sockel AM3+, ATX, DDR3 58,79 €
    HV20MI48DE 8GB-Kit Crucial Ballistix Sport Series DDR3-1600, CL9 66,98 €
    HV203Z30DE Zalman Z1 Midi Tower - schwarz, ohne Netzteil 25,12 €
    HVR500L8DE be quiet! PURE POWER L8 500W 58,69 €
    HV1039MTDE MSI R9 280 GAMING 3G mit MANTLE und Gaming Evolved Client, 3GB DDR5 200,05 €
    HV12SEV2DE Samsung SSD 840 EVO Basic 250GB SATA 6Gb/s 109,99 €
    HV206LD8DE LG DH18NS schwarz bare SATA II 10,63 €
    HVZPCDE Rechner - Zusammenbau 19,99 €

    My main questions would be,

    1) Does this build work?

    2) Can I shave some money off it that wont affect the performance (I just picked what looked ok but really im not that knowledgeable on parts, power ect).

    3) Would It play DAYZ with a 4k monitor fairly well? (Just curious may not get one).

    4) Is now a good time to get it or should I wait?

Sorry for all the questions, I tried to keep it concise!
    Cheers :)

4K is extremely demanding, the r9 280 isn't really up to it unless you're dropping down quite a lot of settings, and DayZ isn't exactly known for its optimization.

I would get an i5 over that 8350. In fact I'd even take an i3-4150 over the 8350 at this point, it can always be upgraded in time if required. The €50 could be put into a better card like the 280X.

Thanks for the input, I rejigged it to this and I think its what I will go with. The 280x is not available atm and compared to what im running dayz on now it will be a big leap.

All these nice PCs going into €20 cases makes me sad.

I'd say forget about 4k with a budget of 700-800. You could get a high end 1080p build for that money. At a push maybe entry level 2560x1080p.

To enter into 1440p/2k land you want at least an R9 290 imo. For 4k you're looking at crossfiring 2 x 290's or better if you want playable framerates with good settings.

You can save money easily on that build and get a decent case. I would not put that kit in such a cheap case.

Suggest a nice case then? I'm vaguely in the market for a nice new case myself.

HIS R9 280 IceQ X2 OC mit MANTLE und Gaming Evolved Client, 3GB GDDR5, DLDVI-I/HDMI/2x Mini Displayport is €186.97 and in stock hwvs. I've read good reviews, could save a small bit there. geizhals.de for another bit of a discount, think it comes out as €176 or there abouts.

Forgot to mention as well, 256GB Crucial MX100 SSD is roughly €90 after throwing it through geizhals. I could be wrong, but I think it has similar performance to the 840 EVO.

If you swapped the EVO for an MX100 and the MSI 280 for the HIS one, the ~€40 savings could allow you to swap the case for a Corsair Carbide 300r, which I believe comes to €65 after geizhals.

If you needed to save shave some extra money, could try an MSI H81m-p33 motherboard. Comes to ~€37 after geizhals. Im sure there's good reasons to stick with the board you have, but if savings need to be made then you could make some there. The h81 board only has 2 RAM slots though, so it might be an idea to switch the 2x4 Crucial RAM for a 1x8GB module to allow for easier upgrading in the future. From what I gather dual channel memory has little impact on gaming so 1x8GB stick should be grand.

I'm open to correction though, but I think this is the case.

My point is people are vastly underestimating the importance of this component. They're going to end up with a small plastic case, absolutely full of wires with very little airflow and consequently a less stable system.

Cases are an individual thing, but pick one with decent cable management options.
