Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Sorry, forgot to ask, do you want a large hard drive, i.e. do you store a lot of films / music / photos ?

Ok, most reliable make of PC Laptops, imo, would be Lenovo and Asus. The least reliable are surprisingly Toshiba, HP, Compaq. The rest would be in-between. (Complied from comparing number of used working Laptops for sale under each brand name, versus broken ones on Ebay).

Min spec. for you would be probably be a Laptop with core i3 processor, 4GB RAM, and 1 TB hard drive
If you can, try to stretch to a core i5, with 8GB RAM

I would strongly recommend visiting a bricks and mortar store and trying them out first before you pick a model, because you need to get a feel for keyboard quality / layout etc. before you buy.

Brillant, thanks for the help. I was looking at this Asus model, what do you think?

That link is for a Lenovo, good make, but that one has got an AMD processor, you'd be better going for an intel i3 processor as a minimum, ideally i5. Also if you're planning storing a lot of movies on your hard drive, 500MB would be tight, but should be more than enough for most peoples photos and music, and you can always get an external drive for backup and for stuff you don't use much. I'd also strongly advise trying a laptop in the flesh before buying as the keyboard/overall feel is very important for something you're going to be using a lot. Yes all these things will cost more, but when you start putting all your stuff on a computer, you'll find you want to keep it for as long as possible, imo.
