Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

car for disabled passenger but not in a wheel chair

    hi everyone,

    I'm looking for a new car to suit bringing my father around. Currently he travels as a passenger in a 03 toyota avensis but this is causing him great difficulty. the problems are 1 he is not able to get in and out of it properly as it is to low and has a problem lifting his legs in and out over the lip at the bottom of the door. 2 he needs a pretty long seat belt to get round his stomach and 3 he needs space in the car for his size. If anyone has any info on a type of car that would counter these problems i would be very thankful.

    I saw a great Avensis on eBay a few years back that might have suited what you were looking for. It had an electric 'ejecting' passenger seat. I was interested as my Granny, then late 80s to early 90s, (now 98!) always found it fairly easy to access my Xantias (I've had 3) but not other family members' cars and SUVs. ps Xantias have big space inside, and very long doors, and sometimes a passenger side dash handle if you're lucky. Anyway, probably too old of a car for your reqs.

    Here's a pricier job, not too far from you, Tulsk, Roscommon. But more made for wheelchair, the Caddy wouldn't have a ton of room up front http://cars.donedeal.ie/for-sale/cars/2494058

    hi,

    did you find a car after? we have one for sale with disabled chair installed as well. Hyundai ix35 2012 model. chair installed will save you a lot of money
