Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

SuperValu's permanent price cuts ad...

Just saw this on the tv tonight. The majority of the ad is set in what looks like a farmers market and has details about it's latest permanent price cuts. I know it's probably the most Irish of all the chained superstores but I think it's slightly unfair of them to be piggybacking on the increasing success of farmers markets when none of their stores actually look like anything in the ad.

Or is someone going to say their local store is exactly like the ad?

I think it's a great ad. Permanent price cuts! They'll be as cheap as Tesco in 4 or 5 years. I'm looking forward to shopping there in 2050 :)

Much prefer supporting SuperValu than the likes of Lidl/Aldi in these economic times...they employ more, pay more tax to the Irish Govt, they support local Irish communities etc etc..they also stock an awful lot of Irish produce.....including items found at farmers markets such as specialist cheese, meat products etc etc ...really don't see anything wrong with their add...

It's obviously not "economic times" for you if you're shopping at Super Valu! :)

I have boycotted Tesco for years. Research on the Pat Kenny proved that there is minimal difference between the big chains. They found on 200 brand products there was usually a 1% price difference between Super Valu, Tesco and Dunnes.

I think it was Chris on the Newstalk Breakfast Show one morning that said that the Irish market was referred to as "Treasure Ireland" by the Tesco big wigs over in London HQ. F*ck them!:mad:

I know the one Roscommon has a mart at the back, they even had a few bulls in the supermarket one day.
