For starters get familiar with Geizhals.de. use it for all your parts saves about 30-50 Euro.

Second drop the mobo and CPU.

Instead get an I5 4690k and an MSI z97 gaming 5 mobo. Slightly more expensive that your AMD combo but way better.

The ram. Get 8 gigs of crucial 1600 ram. 61 Euro will cancel extra cost of the Intel set up above.

Get your windows on reddit. Costs 15 Euro. Put the savings from this into your Gpu. Then get an MSI r9270 . Or a gtx 760.

    Cheers SterlingArcher,
Is there a AMD side and a Intel side when it comes to this choice?
And is it not better to run 2 x ram's side by side......just read this through a quick google!
Thanks for reply, now going onto Geizhals.de for a quick look :-)

Is there much differance between the ram tho as the 8GB Crucial is 1333 MHz and the 8GB-Kit G.Skill is 2133 MHz
Will go with the psu that you recommended.

The build above will be much better than the AMD build nothing against AMD but the Intel devils canyon CPU is superior cooling ,power and performance wise.
Better graphics card with the gtx 760 over the r9 260x. I did only put 1 tb HDD in. But you can up that.

With regards to ram. Really not hugely noticeable when you are gaming or other regular tasks. If you feel better with the 4 x2 then go the route.

There is no real difference in 1600/1300. you would never notice gaming.

Has been speculation of an October release on the maxwell. Since you are only buying end of September might be worth the wait. Ment to have a nice performance increase and price. Either way will have knock on prices of current Gpu win win for you.

Don't forget to use Geizhals at a glance will save you 50 euro.

    @laneoo

Ram Speed makes 0 difference for gaming. Go for the cheapest you can get.

If you want to stick to your budget go with an i5 4460 and a cheaper mainboard. A cheap H81 board will do fine. You will get identical frame rates in the majority of games.

Getting silence with an R9 290 is not going to happen easily. Go for the Club3d R9 290. Easily the best one available. You could modify the fan profiles to make this completely silent at it's stock speeds which are already pre overclocked to a decent level.

If you have any monies left over go for a better case.

    @SlipslideDC

I'd say you're also better off getting the cheaper i5 4460 with a cheap mobo like the Asrock H81 and putting the 100+ saved into the gpu. You could get an R9 280 with a good cooler. Something like The MSI gaming version.

Thanks all for the replies, but I have to ask again is there a favoritism towards Intel or is AMD just an inferior product? Have ye all tested AMD?

  • Registered Users Posts: 285 ✭✭laneooo

This is what i have put together now is this compatible?
@BloodBath what case would u recommended for noise/quiet and would u go with the i5-4690K over the i5 4460 for the sake of 20 euro
Can't seem to get a discount on that gpu?

Apologies to laneo. Kinda got his tread hijacked. Slipside Intel is the better chip and as far as any type of future proofing. it makes more sence using the 87/97 sockets, even on a budget because you have better upgrade options.

But it is by no means favoritism. If AMD bring out a good budget chip that tops an Intel. That's what will be getting recommended.

In your case the cost of the mobo and CPU combined that you selected, it just made more sense to go Intel. The build I done up Intel wise came out cheaper with better performance, cooling, and power saving allround. That is the only aim here. Try help someone get the Best value for Money. No loyalty to faceless companies.

Laneo. You should maybe aim for a z97 board. If you are getting the I5 6970k. The Gigabyte one for 80 odd will do.

Think bloods mobo recommendation was with the non k chip in mind.

    I see i added Gigabyte GA-Z97P-D3, Sockel 1150, ATX / HV1143IDDE / 78,74 €

    Is this build fine then?
Is it ok for lets say upgrading a GPU in 1-2 years time..
Can someone recommend a good case? cheers

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,767 ✭✭✭SterlingArcher

Yeah what kind are you looking for and what is budget. 50 wil get you a good case. Antec one 43, the corsair carbide 300r at 60.

100 will get you a nice nanoxia deep silence. Great case quiet cooling is awesome.

And yes it will be grand for an upgrade.

Once again I missed the extra pages.....apologies SterlingArcher for late repy!
Thanks for the guidance on all so far, can you steer me in the last corner for a GPU (keep in mind the budget!) and if i need extra cooling or anything else as this is the weekend I launch my order.
    Thanks in advance.

Slipslide you should really make your own thread, it's a bit confusing since you are asking questions in multiple threads belonging to other people.

Laneoo, Corsairs CS series of PSU's seem great for the price. Gold rated and modular.

  • Registered Users Posts: 21 SlipslideDC

Sorry about that Bloodbath, will open my own thread with the above question!

Thanks bloodbath and SterlingArcher I appreciate it i'll check back in at the end of the month or start of oct just to double check before buying.
