    Hi Folks,
I've been offered a job in Sandycove, and have decided to accept. (yay!)

But i don't know anything about south east dublin. Does anyone have any pointers/experience with commuting to sandycove on a daily basis? Is the DART always packed solid in the mornings/is it better just to drive? Any tips regarding a good place to live and not have to spend too much time stuck in traffic trying to get into work etc?

Any advice/warnings would be really appreciated!
    cheers,
    Rob.

I'll be moving up from Cork, and it'll be a 9-5 / M-F kind of job. From the looks of the DART map there's a few towns/villages to check out along the line. I've been on daft, and it looks like the minimum rent would be around 500E per month for that rough area of Dub - but I was hoping to hear what experience other people here had...probably as useful to hear from people on the ground.
    Cheers,
    Rob.

You have two main options (a) find somewhere along the DART line (b) find somewhere further inland).

(a)(i) You have the choice of DART or bus. If you are living between Sandycove and the city, you are likely to be travelling against the prevailing traffic and it shouldn't be overly busy.
(ii) If you are living away from the city, it shouldn't be overly crowded as most people won't have boarded yet. A lot of people board at Dun Laoghaire, one stop further on.

    (b) Depending on where in Sandycove, you could use certain buses like the 46A or the 7.

You could of course, walk, cycle, etc.

If you want to socialise in the city centre, factor in the cost of taxis or Nitelinks.
