Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Aspergers - adult diagnoses

I've been asked a couple times by different people "if I have aspergers", that I started reading into it and thinking about it, alot of fits.

I don't want to self-diagnose though and so I want to know if it's possible to see a psychologist without being referred to by your doctor?
(have been treated for depression& anxiety and I fear they might just fob it off on that.)

I've always been different to others, but my mother never saw it as a problem, so it's not something that would've been checked "earlier" which is why I'm curious to find out.

I've also done quite a bit of behaviour therapy in recent years, which manages many of the issues I have.
It's common for adults to alter their behaviours to cope, so I'm looking in particular for a professional who has experience with diagnosing adults.

If anyone knows of any professionals or any groups that would know, who I could contact?

and if I do have to be referred to by my GP, I'd still like to have a name.
(preferably in the Cork/Limerick regions, though I would travel further if needs be.)
