Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Copy protect CD

I have read a lot about the fact that basically copy protecting a CD is impossible because any protection will always be gotten around but I'm looking for a program that will create some form of protection against the average Joe who knows the basics about computers.

I'm trying to limit the amount of copying that might go on with data CD's containing PDF ebooks. I will already be imprinting the name of the person who orders a CD onto the ebooks as well as placing white text in certain areas so that if I find one online I can open it and select the text to find out who purchased it originally - and am considering password protecting them also - but are there any programs (ideally free) that can put some form of copy protection onto the cds?

Usually password protecting the files is the best way to go about it. Coming from a guy whos been there and done that, and is currently torrenting his way through the entire series of Scrubs, I've never once been bothered to attempt to crack a password protected file or archive. Too much work.

What kind of eBooks are we talking about here though? You can place PDF watermarks onto the sheets, which will help you identify the origin of a leak - but I wont lie, it can be simple enough nowadays to just pull text off a PDF and copypasta.

Adobe's proffessional software - I would at least look over the brochure. Its basically their format, I'm sure they've cooked up some nice measures.
