Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. Lehman outburst

Just saw the tale end of an interview with Lehman on UTV

From what I saw he seems to have come out and called the referee a cheat and claimed the match was fixed. Then he seems to have said that he wont be playing in a UEFA competition again so there's not much that they can do to him.

I only caught the tail end of this but it looks like massive massive sour grapes.

Hope they throw the book at him.

On a more positive note they had a great shot of a conga line by the Spanish players around the dressing room/interview area - Fabregas lets the side down badly by breaking the line to swig from his bottle of beer :D:D:D

i can feel somewhat sympathetic for Lehmann, I mean the ref did make some very dodgy decisions, especially towards the end. but that's just a ridiculous thing to say. still, wouldn't have expected anything else from him tbh. madman.

Have to say I will miss Mad Jens as our keeper, a great keeper.

    Lehmanns a nutter

In fairness though, have the Germans ever had a goalkeeper that could be labelled as "perfectly sane"? F*ckin gutted.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,271 ✭✭✭CantGetNoSleep

Did he include the ref missing his hand ball outside the box which would have seen him sent off certainly?

Lehmann is a complete and utter loonbag. At least he is retiring in typical fashion.

Too bad the Spanish didnt birng Alumnia to the party. Twoulda really kicked off.

This whole bringing the game into disrepute disciplinaries are a load of sh1te in fairness though. Fair enough Lehmann made some pretty heavy accusations with little merit (reffing tonight was generally grand IMO) but in the EPL when x y and z manager gets these charges/fines regularly, its nonsense. It isnt as if they have an alternative to mouthing off to the media- not like you can demand a match get replayed because you present a list of six ref decisions/lack of decisions that you have a gripe about.

    Legend.

On another note, how many finals does that make it now in which Ballack has lost? His Leverkusen side blew a possible League/Cup/CL treble, each at the final hurdle, very similar to Chelsea this season. Along with the World Cup he must now have more runners up medals than almost any player ever.

one champions league, one Euros. don't know about domestically but i think he has been suspended for all the other major ones his teams have been involved in.

One of the rags yesterday said he has lost 7 major finals, now 8 :D

Plus his arrival coincided with Chelsea not winning the league for a third time in a row.....

I don't think the ref was biased, I just think he was p*ss poor. Okay he did miss Silva head-butting Podolski but he also booked Spain’s captain Iker Casillas for absolutely no reason at all.

Lehmann is a total head case though! :pac:

I thought booking Torres for a clash of heads was a brilliant decision personally :p

    Ballacks finals;

Played 14, lost 8 (yesterday included)
3 german FA Cups, 1 English FA cup, 1 German League cup (equivalent) and 1 English League cup.

So he lost all the major ones.

Yeah the ref had a howler of a game. I really don't know where UEFA get these clowns from.

    ?!?!?!?

I thought they both brought their heads together, no loafing going on, if anything i thought podolski was the one initiating this?

The way he was laughing and joking when he collected his runners up medal tends to suggest he seems to be happy about being second, couldn't imagine Terry or Keano reacting that way, still he off to spend his millions whilst I go back to work.

Podolski squared up to Silva, but it was Silva who did the little jerky movement with his head which we associate with the headbutt.

    There was minimal contact though.

He was very lucky to not get red-carded I felt.

The ref had a poor game though, why the fúck was Casillas yellowed?

    Well the ref was Italian!!

Re: the Silva headbutt. polodski was actin aggressively but Silva motioned the contact with his head. Lucky to stay on tbh. Ive seen players sent off for it...Ronaldo at pompey last season for example.

Credit to Podolski, He could've hit the deck when Silva "loafed him" to get him sent off but he didn't. The ref was very poor.

nobody! he and Metzelder, or one of the Germany defenders clashed heads contesting a kick out or a long ball in the second half.....ref booked him!

    Nah, I dont think so.

    I was joking.

of course he lead with the head, it's at the top of his body.

    roffles.

Ref was very poor alright. It looked like Lehmann handled outside the area and he blew for a nonexistent foul on Capdevila right at the end when Gomez was in. No final for him next time!

    Heh
Next season Lehmann is coming to Stuttgart.
    Great!
Have to say he is mental but a decent keeper, better than Schaefer (our keeper last year) anyway

Disagree - Podolski ran over looking to get a reaction, pushed his head against Silva's, then as soon as Silva did anyting (nothing) Podolski turn and shouted for th eref to do something about it.

Why should Podolski get any credit for that, at all?

Torres had a lot of frees against im yesterday, lot of niggly/late tackles.....so I'd say the booking was more a collective one and not just for that incident!
