Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Opel Astra Radio

Hi all. Recently upgraded from a 99 to an 08 Astra and took the radio from my 99 (not the stock one, some Phillips one). Unfortunately it doesn't fit the 08 as the unit in the newer model is a lot bigger.

Basically I'm wondering is there some sort of surround that I could fit that would enable me to fit my old radio? If so, is it a big job taking out the current unit?

Yes you need a single din surround from halfords/motor factors/ICE shop.

Also depends on your unit a conversion wire be needed for you to keep steering wheel buttons. Plus you will lose ability to adjust the screen items like time and date etc via radio and scroll button steering wheel.

Edit: you may need loom adapter to.

IMO keep standard radio and replace speakers gives decent quality sound.

Thanks for the reply. Forgot about the steering wheel functions but could probably do without them, find myself rarely if ever using them. The clock I could do with keeping.

I'd keep the unit but it has no AUX connection. Would it be possible to connect one somehow to the current unit?

Also, I'd assume changing speakers would be a big enough job (removing door panels etc)?

It is possible to retrofit aux cable, but depends on model of cd player, think it's grundig cd30/cd70 radios and any cd30mp3 radio. Plus needs Tech2 to activate it.

Yes changing speakers is bit of a job on gtc, front doors pretty easy but need adapters, the rears is full on job.
