aimo any car - what car?

Got a promotion recently with a company car allowance of €50k - no cash alternative.

Currently thinking BMW 5 series (I think pretty crappy spec for the money), Audi a6 or current front runner as slightly unusual Jaguar xf (yet to test drive).

Any thoughts on these or others? Have 3 kids so rules out smaller cars.

I would have thought you'd get a decent 5 series for 50k? Really like it myself.

Out of those I'd probably take the a6

50k gets a lot of 5 series though?

congrats on the promotion, what about mercedes?? is that something you'll consider??

If I have the choice I'd probably go with 5 series also

Thanks, never driven or been in one but wouldn't rule out....have in my head it's for my dads generation but then I realise my age!!

XF at that level is probably the pick of the bunch - a decent BM or Audi will probably be strangled by the €50k limit
I saw in the paper a while ago that Mercedes are offering a €7000 additional equipment to standard spec which might be worth a look - E class that is

"Commercial" 5 seat Land Rover Discovery 4 is about €54k...... Company can get all the VAT back etc.

Everyone has a 5 series.
Id go for an E class but only if the budget stretches to an avantgarde ot sport spec. I fear it might not though.

I'd go with the XF because it will standout from the crownd of 5 Series and A6s in the middle management car park, but it will the 2.2 varient on that budget. You might be able to just about get the Premium spec model for €50k.

Presuming the 50k limit is based on retail pricing rather than cost.

Jag would leave you with only half leather and the other 2 have full leather, but the Jag has Xenon's (and is oh so pretty) whereas the others don't.

I love the 5 series but I'd get the Jag.. As said above at least it will stand out in a car park full of Merc's, BMW's and Audi's plus it looks fantastic and that interior just does it for me.

Having been let loose in 3.0TDi versions of the A6, 5 Series, XF and E-Class, the XF was very dissapointing, handling wise, in comparison. Came in 3rd behind the 5 and the A6 (but that was a quattro).

Haven't driven a 2.2 version yet, and for day to day road usage it's probably not far behind the 5 and possibly better than a FWD A6.

I'd test drive the Jag, looks a bit disappointing spec wise beside the Audi and 5-series. I like the F10, but I'd probably go for either the Jag or E-Class. Not many E-Classes around either, and they're a decent car. The new A6 seems to be finally there or there abouts, the last one was very underwhelming, especially in 3 litre quattro form. I expected so much more from it.
