I'm trying to install a canon camera program on my mac. it's a bit old, but there is an update available on net.

i had it on my old pc, but now want it on my new mac

i stick the cd in and it tells me it can't install it because PowerPC applications are no longer supported.

but if i got it installed, then i could update it!

you can't just download the software

Your new Mac cannot run that version of the software. It is designed for pre intel-chip machines, so the installer on the CD is pretty obsolete at this stage.
However, you should be able to able to download it no problem from Canon's website. All you need is a serial number for the camera. http://www.canon.ie/Support/Consumer_Products/product_ranges/cameras/eos/index.aspx
