Looks good, I'll try to get there on Friday.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,056 ✭✭✭Sparks43

looks a too good to be true schedule tbh but its enough to make me a little bit curious

you shall see me at an event in the near future with work/killarney permitting

best of luck with that schedule if you were in the city centre you would have people hanging from the ceiling

also 1 quote from this which is aimed at the alternative poker room aka poker events/eglingon casino
8p.m Saturday, Satellite for Killarney €550 ticket. ( I Ticket Guarantee each week) 1 ticket for each 10 players entered. €50 + €5 Buy in. 8k starting stack, 20 minute blinds. Free Bus to the event from Club.
    1K Early Bird Bonus chip.

this is how to look after players with no massive reg/leauge fees frankly its a joke imho

Played last night and was good to see the numbers up, could turn into a good game. Only one comment, can the dealers not turn the 3 cards on the flop up at the same time? Showing one card at a time is not the best way to do it IMO. Will be back up next week anyway

Why such a late start Ross?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 636 ✭✭✭The Poker Room

The late start time is due to J.P's game at Malloys. Which regularly gets 60-80 runners.

We wanted to give people who were knocked out of that tourney before the break the chance to play in our Tourney.

We will gauge the response this week and see if it should be moved to the regular 8p.m time.

    thanks

What time does this start tonight?

  • Registered Users Posts: 803 ✭✭✭flushje

tbh i think its a bad night as when people get knocked out of JP's they wont want to walk when the can just play a side game and drink pints

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 123 ✭✭Kelso

Played the freezeout yesterday. Good value for a €2 reg fee when dealer dealt. However it gets crapshooty pretty quick, blind levels are very short and a couple of levels missing.
I was allso disappointed, considering it had been brought up here before that everyone got the early bird bonus 1k chip, even when they were a half hour late. Need to be much stricter on that imo or just not bother at all

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 636 ✭✭✭The Poker Room

    Thanks Kelso for the feedback.

We will add 150/300 level and 1500/3000 level next week.

The early bird was difficult this week as advertised that we would start the tourny late because of the football. So if you were sitting down prior to the start of the tourney you got the early bird if you arrived after we started you didn't but it will be strict from now on.

We had 27 runners and Paul Mcmenmay won the €250 first prize and the Callaway golf clubs and 6 scalps. (not bad for €27)

Paul received several cash offers for the clubs I think €350 was the highest but he deceided to give them to his dad. Great job paul.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 123 ✭✭Kelso

That's fair enough then Ross, I didn't realise it had been advertised as a late start. The extra level should improve the game too, fairplay for putting it in.

One other thing I meant to mention too was it would be good if you had some kind of seat draw, rather than letting players pick their own seats. It would be simple enough just to have cards with table/seat numbers, put them face down on a table and have players randomly pick them.

Like I said though, it is great value to get a dealer dealt tourny for such a low reg fee, and the money added to the prizepool too, I will definitely be back

Couple of queries about the Friday game that i'd like cleared up:

    1) The buyin is €65 inc a €10 scalp chip; so is this €55 into prize pool or only €45 into prize pool. Some confusion on this today and only €45 per person went into the prize pool. However you mentioned on another post that '2. As a commitment to offer the best value for money for our tournaments we are adding money to the prize pool in the form of scalps. So the buy is €55 + €10, but instead of the €10 going to reg, we are going to put €55 of your buy in the prize pool and give you a €10 scalp chip as well.' Can you clear this up?

    2) In the original post on this thread is states '3. Always cash payouts, free tickets will not be used as part of the prize pool. Cash, Cash and only cash.' However the prizepool today included a 4th place prize of a free entry (ticket) to next weeks tourney with no option to cash it in.

Apart from this an excellent tourney with plenty of play & plenty of odd calls :p Top marks for the sandwiches too :pac::pac::pac:

    :D:D:D

P.S. I think somebody else mentioned, on here, about dealing the flop 1 card at a time. I'd like to endorse this and I much prefer when the three cards are dealt together. 2 of the dealers today dealt the flop 1 card at a time. Just a small observation. :D

thanks for the queries about the tourney, I will recall as best as I can what happened with the prize pool.

We had 14 runners, 8 of them paid reg (students and casino employees get free reg. ) so 8 X €65 = 520, 6 x €55 330 so € 850 in the prize pool. (For the last 6 weeks or so we have given a free ticket for 4th that doesn't come out of the prize pool but is paid be the club. )

    So €850 - 14 x €10 scalp = €140 so €710 left

    The prizes were

    1st € 375
    2nd € 170
    3rd €100
    4th free next week.

so € 645 in cash prizes. (if you include the €65 we put in to give the 4th prize, it measn that we took 0 out of the tourney today.

    We had 3 dealers at €10 each X 18 hours = €180
    Sandwiches = €18
    Shopping for beer, coke etc

  • Registered Users Posts: 991 ✭✭✭tm2204

If there were 14 runners and you are putting €55 per person into the prizepool + 10% added by the club (as advertised) then the prizepool should be €770 + €77 = €847 cash. The scalp chips are seperate and according to your other post there is no reg and all €55 goes into the prizepool! Also if there is no 'reg' then students/casino employees should pay €65 entry and not €55, otherwise they are being subsidised by the other players & not the club!

If you choose to add a free ticket for 4th place then that's great & appreciated but the 'cash' prizepool yesterday was only €645. That is all that was paid out. In your calculations above you have removed the cash value of the 4th place ticket from the cash paid out. Normally fair enough but you did advertise that cash & only cash was being paid out and there was no option to 'cash in' the ticket.

People would prefer to know that their entry consisted of €55 + €10 reg (or €0 reg for students/casino employees but the club takes the hit and not the prizepool) and that all €55 ends up in the prizepool. Nobody minds paying reg for a well run tourney like this. People just like transparancy and to know what is being paid out when they register for a tourney.

Myself, I thought from reading posts here on boards that I was paying €65 which consisted of €55 going into the prizepool, €0 reg, €10 scalp chip and that the club was adding 10% cash to the prizepool. In fact €645 cash was paid out from a prizepool that should have been €847.

  • Registered Users Posts: 803 ✭✭✭flushje

It still amazes me as to how you actually make money from this though Ross, fair play.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 636 ✭✭✭The Poker Room

Sorry would have answered quicker but I was kicked off boards for a day.

No if you pay €65 to play, €10 is your scalp and €45 goes into the prize pool, your scalp is part of the prize pool. So we had €90 in Reg (as 5 people didn't pay reg, students, casino employees) So we made €90 in reg and we added 10% to the prize pool.

    So here is the numbers.

    14 players x €55 = €770
We add 10% to prize pool €75
    Total in prize pool €845

    14 scalps x10 so - €140
    1st place €370
    2nd place €170
    3rd place €100
Free ticket €65 For next week

So €845 total prize pool. (The scalps aren't free they come out of the prize pool.)

Including Wages, Food, Drink we had a net loss of €200 from the tourney on Friday and we do almost every Friday.

If we put the prize pool and the reg into the prize pool and put in 10% as well we would be out of business in about 2 weeks.

I played cash at the celtic poker tour on Friday and to the best of my calculations they took €50k in prize pool and paid out €33k. and no free beer.

Our Friday tourney as with all our tourneys are by far the best value tourneys anywhere in Ireland with the 110% prize pool.

If you have other questions you can talk to me on Friday or suggestions as to improve the game.

    So

Sorry just re-read your last e-mail.

At no time did we advertise Free reg for everyone on Friday and 10% added. You would expect to pay reg. Not forgetting the freebies etc.

If the reg doesn't go in the prize pool, then we are paying for the students and casino employees, as the reg would go to the house.

We made that offer to get players in to the tourney to support numbers.

Hope this helps with you enquires.

It is difficult to have transarancy when there is so many variable with scalps, free regies etc. but we will try our best in future.

Ross, let me say first that in asking all these questions I am in NO WAY having a go. I think the Friday tourney is fantastic value with the 110% prizepool, 10k +2k stack and 30 min blinds.

My questions were as a result of some confusion last Friday re the prizepool and what people thought should be in it. My questions were also as a result of numerous posts The Poker Room put up here on boards re this tourney.
In these posts (spread across numerous threads) it WAS stated that:
    (a) prizepool would be 110%
    (b) only cash payouts & NO tickets
    (c) €55 of every €65 collected would be in prizepool & other €10 would be a scalp chip

Now most people would consider this too good to be true as how could you affordto do this? It was just the misleading posts that caused the problem. In reality your Friday tourney for €55 + €10 reg is the best value around by far.

    Some suggestions for improvement (constructive):
    (a) scrap the €10 scalp and put €55 into prizepool. In a deepstack good blind levels tourney having scalps encourages bad play & reduces the quality of the gameplay IMO
    (b) scrap the €65 ticket for the next week and leave the €65 cash in the prizepool
    (c) Have the dealers deal the flop 3 cards over together instead of one at a time
    (d) Make sure you have some non meat sambo's for me as i'm a veggie :D

Hope this tourney goes from strength to strength as it's a good un.......

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 636 ✭✭✭The Poker Room

never to my recolection did we state that €55 would go into the prize pool and you would a €10 scalp as well.

I actually asked 10 players two weeks ago if they would prefer to have the scalp or put the €10 in to the prize pool and everyone said that they would prefer to have the scalp. Its one or the other.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 636 ✭✭✭The Poker Room

Thanks for the suggestions, I do think the scalp muddies the transparancy
    of the payout.

So as form next week we will lose the scalp, everything goes in the prize pool (apart from the reg) and we will payout 110% in the prize pool, no free pass for fourth place.

We have bought a George Forman grill so you can make your own toated sambos,

    Thanks Ross.
