Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Who receives court fines?

i.e. If you are in the District Court over an unpaid parking ticket, and the judge says you have to pay say EUR 500 at the fines office in the District Court, then does that money go to the local authority whose traffic warden originally issued the ticket, or does it go to the Courts service?

    Why would that matter?

Local authorities are stretched for money.

If a parking fine is issued, and paid they get the money, very good.

But if they issue a summons and take someone to court who then pays who gets the money? I have heard it is not the local authority...

So why do they bother taking people to court?

Because if they don't, pretty soon people will stop paying parking tickets.

FWIW, I think you're correct. If you pay a parking ticket, the cash goes to the local authrority. But if you fail to pay, get prosecuted and get fined, the cash goes to the exchequer - the Central Fund. But off-hand I can't cite the authority for this.
