Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    train lol.... :D

Honest answer is simply to drive or get the bus. Cork to Athlone and Athlone to Sligo and Sligo to Donegal I think interlinking by BE

Via Dublin might well be faster.

I suppose it depends on what youre looking for and whether its North or South Donegal youre going to.

To travel the west coast on routes 51 and 64, you would need to be leaving Cork no later than 1025 to connect with the last 64 beyond Sligo at 1600. That bus serves both Donegal Town and Letterkenny en route to Derry.

However, assuming you only want to get to Letterkenny and want a change of scenery you could travel via Dublin, using either the bus or train to get that far. The last bus from Dublin to Letterkenny is 2245. It can be a tight connection by bus with only a 20 minute gap to connect between services. The 1800 route 8 ex Cork is only due in Busaras at 2225.

The train option could allow you to leave Cork as late as 1830 arriving at Heuston at 2115 allowing you time to meander over to Busaras.

There is no shortage of options!
A single from Cork to Letterkenny is €25.20 bought online. I assume that means you can use the ticket to travel by any reasonable route on that day.

You could fly Cork - Belfast and bus it to Derry, should be plenty of connections to all parts of Donegal from Derry.

    X.

Doubt it - Donegal airport is in the arse end of the west of the county. No use for Donegal town, Letterkenny, etc.

You can fly dublin - derry city which is 20 minutes from Inisowen. U would need to sort a lift at the airport probably. A taxi will be about £10 to the city.

    .

    Best option so far

But since you're worried about cost then it's Bus Eireann all the way

Respect to the Derry City and Cork City supporters who go to the away games in LOI!

Can you fly Cork to Sligo? Does that route exist?

buserriann would go to the main towns such as letterkenny, donegal town and on to sligo from derry, and any towns on the route in between,

swilly bus would serve other towns north and west of letterkenny and around the inishown pennisula

not sure if ulsterbus have a town/airport service in derry

    train lol.... :D

    Seconded. LOL :D

It's a disgrace really. Why leave out nearly a quarter of the country?
    IRISH RAIL MAP

Forget the new trains. Improve the network.

Just from looking at your map and there's a gaping hole between Athlone and Mullingar. If you linked these you'd join up two major lines.
Makes sense imo, I think there is a line there but only used for freight
