Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Buses not stopping at a bus stop.

    Got the 4a this morning into work and usually get off at the stop outside Trinity College (College Green?? Grafton St?? not the one beside Kildare St though!). Pressed the bell in plenty of time as did a few other people yet the bus didn't stop, just kept going untill the next stop at Nassau St/Kildare St junction.

    Are bus drivers allowed to pass a designated stop if people want to get off?? There was a 4 at the bus stop, so I don't think the bus stop was out of order.

    Did the bell "ding", or the sign light up? If so, shout "stop the f**king bus". Usually works.

    Yes, sometimes stops are missed. I once saw a driver miss 4 stops in a row - away with the birds. :):(

    Is it possible there was no space for the bus to pull in and he would have been blocking traffic.

    Victor, happens all the time at that particular stop, although this morning there was space for him to pull in albeit not at an actual bus stop (double yellows near the traffic lights just before Grafton Street).

    the syco, yeah the "stopping" sign lit up (didn't know on the new busses that it was up over the windscreen, was surprised at that.) Shouting down the bus was not an option, I do not want to look like a loola.

    Was just a bit suprised that he even missed the stop, the bus wasn't even that full so it wasn't like he was trying to miss a stop to not let people on the bus.

    You aren't meant to stop within 15 metres of the approach side of a pedestrian crossing - pedestrians can't see on-coming traffic and vice-versa.

    It's illeagal to stop a bus outside of a bus stop and the driver can get ticket, it's on page 201 of the ROTR. If there wasn't enough space to pull in then the driver was right to go past the stop, given that it was in town and the next stop wasn't far away it's the least trouble for the driver.
