Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Ooh, big swing for that constituency. What kind of numbers had the BNP and UKIP last time though?

    BNP are down 1.7% on 2005 :)

Was sad that nearly 2000 people voted for them, but nice to see it's less than last time at least. :)

Oh my God, I can watch BBC live through the Guardian. Class. I'm such a dope for not trying this earlier.

They reckon Scotland will be a Labour safe-hold.

    LibDems are so low.

I'm absolutely flabbergasted and sincerely hope they are wrong.

Hundreds of people unable to vote all over the UK.

Labour will win most of the first few seats because Labour is the most popular in the small city constituencies.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 634 ✭✭✭loldog

    LibDems on 59.

I'm absolutely flabbergasted and sincerely hope they are wrong.

Don't forget it's not PR, its first past the post, so Cleggmania is not the same as extra seats.

There is a lot of talk of the 326 mark. This is based on the fact that there are 650 seats in the House of Commens. However Sinn Fein will probably win at leat 4 seats. As they abstain it means on effective majority in the House of Commons is 324.

It's so marginal though. I wouldn't be surprised if they lost a few seats, but would be equally unsurprised if they gained 20+.

3rd place to second place for LDs is no extra seats!

    YEah, I know.

All the same, still thought they'd do much better than that.

Plus the speaker. Add the fact that the DUP's 9 or so seats will be with the tories means they need 313 to form a government. Wonder if it was a majority of 1 would the Sinn Féiners swallow their pride and take their seats? :pac:

Lewisham kept the polling offices open an extra 30 minutes to accommodate the queues of people. Also somewhere in Manchester was kept open.

There could be war after this.

SF will never enter a "foreign" parliament.

    Lib Dems might ditch Clegg.

I have a sneaky feeling the Tories will form a minority government.

Agree with BBC that it's disgraceful that people who wanted to vote weren't able to.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 12,078 ✭✭✭✭LordSutch

Not able to vote; There seems to be a trend all over the country with polling stations shutting promptly at ten O'Clock whilst not being able to cope with the larger than expected turnout, with many, many people being turned away.

Outgoing Labour govt. throwing a spanner in the works with unclear voting close times?

One thing certain its Goodbye GB!

    Gildernew could lose out though!

Quite possibly, they still would have 4 fairly safe seats - Tyrone West, Mid Ulster, Newry & South Armagh and West Belfast.

Note for people who don't like their regional coverage:

Sky News is running a full show (on SkyDig, ch 501).
BBC News is running a full show (on SkyDig, ch 503 with a UK card)
BBC1 is running a full show. For those with UK regional varieties (ie a UK card), you will find the London/Scotland/Wales/NI versions of BBC1 starting at ch 971 on your Sky EPG.

People with Irish Sky cards or FTA receivers who want to get BBC News or the regional varieties of BBC1, info here

RTE1 is running a show for the next few hours.

You will find the BBC London live feed (exactly as broadcast) here

You will find the RTE live feed (exactly as broadcast) here

Also note that while I'm fine with this being a chat thread about the results etc, I'm deleting the posts about various presenters being "hot" or otherwise as this is still the Politics forum, not the idiot box.

It's the law in the UK to close the doors at 10.

In other countries, once you're in the queue, you're allowed to cast you're vote.

All those that couldn't vote will cancel each other out anyway.

Don't rule out Alan Johnson (very popular within Labour). Miliband is a bit too posh for Labour.

I still maintain the exit poll is wrong and so do the betting markets. They seem to think 315-320 for the Tories.

    Didn't stop El Tony!

Harman would be the most comical choice... speak of the devil on radio5live.

I can see a few results getting challanged on grounds of votes lost due to stations turning people away.

Washington and Sunderland West: Lab Hold

I don't see why, if people don't turn up on time it's their own fault.

    Swing 11.6% to Tory!
