Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    They should shop around.

    €8k seems pricey.

I love see the Aussies lose at sports, its so important to them. Rub it up them, I say.

To be fair, I fancy them for the WC next year.

If it had been the other way around you can be sure the Aussi media would have had a headline about Drunk Violent Paddies Wreck Stadium in Fight Over Potatoes and then some lead about how empoverished the place is compared to Australia.

A door, a doorframe and a wall costs €8,000 to repair? How can that be right?

8 grand for a door, frame, and a bit of plastering? Are these dressing rooms made of alabaster or something?

I smell bullsh1t. I think in reality the job was so cheap that when he kicked the door it took down the doorframe and half the wall with it. Imagine the shock he got!! :D

It will be interesting to see how the Australian media report this.

Will they report AU$ 11,723 worth of damage, or will they sensationalise it by rounding it up to AU$12,000?

A bit of a non stripy really.
"Some of what has been said is blown completely out of proportion.

"The Aviva dressing-rooms were built to the highest standard, so the cost of the damage is €8,000," added the source.

In today's Examiner, an Australian team source said: “There was an accident after the match involving one of our support staff. We made the IRFU aware of this on the evening of the game and have offered our assistance in any way if required.”

No complaint has been lodged about the incident and the IRFU said it will not comment when contacted by Independent.ie.

Can't hardly blame them though. I mean to be defeated by the Paddys whilst being coached by a Kiwi. It's hard to come back from that kind of shame.

Isn't it the Irish way? They have money and have caused damaged. Double… no triple the bill!

Yep. Pretty much like a lot of Tiger era building especially apartments.

Lots of builders over there in Oz could fix the door, they should send one over.

True that. They'd have used all the sterotypes and made us out to be idiots if it was reversed. Luckily we dont do the same thing here though.
    True, but they're Australian.

Damaging a door is a bootable offense.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,088 ✭✭✭SpaceTime

You'd actually be surprised at how much replacing a wrecked door frame might cost, depending on how much damage was done.

In commercial buildings like they're often fire doors too, so there could be quite a bit of work involved and it would depend on what the structure around it was.

They're well sponsored and insured though, so just write the cheque and get it over with.

Bit of a stupid thing to do though and could have end up injuring someone quite badly. Doors are often a lot harder than human feet and fists.
