Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

HETAS Training For Stove Installations

Does anybody know why HETAS training for stove installations seems to be the big thing here at the moment when according to the hetas.co.uk website " Regulations and certification vary by regions, consumers in Scotland, Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland and Isle of Man should contact their relevant Local Authority prior to commencing any installation work as HETAS installers cannot self-certificate their work in these regions"?

I've seen an advert on done deal which is in my opinion scaremongering about HETAS certification to generate business. http://www.donedeal.ie/for-sale/heating/4712527

Surely compliance with the Building Regulations Technical Guidance Document J is what is required.

    Any thoughts?

You are right there is no reg to say that stoves have to be installed by hetas installers. You do have to comply with part J.There is also no reg about oil boilers again just part J but people are pushing for Oftec.Personally I'm hetas trained my reason being that I do a lot of work for local authority's and I wanted to show that we worked to a recognised standard ok hetas is an English standard but it helps to show competence because now most of my work with stoves is sorting out the mess that people left behind
