Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

BJ2 - a wasted chance

I was made, kicking and screaming, to watch the first Bridget Jones's film and I have to say, I enjoyed it. It is what it is, charming, funny, appealing, reasonably well scripted and rather well acted.
So I wasn't overly adverse to having a look-see at the second one.
So I am disappointed to report that it is, in my opinion of course (well who elses?), that it was a bit of a shambles. Basically it is a one-joke follow-up to the the first film. The plot and most of the jokes are predictiable, alot of the plot is actually just an inane means to an end (exhibit 16, Thia-jail story).
It could have been a film in its own right. The single-gal thing had been done and another engaging film was there for the taking - Bridget the cohabiting years, and all the amusingly accurate observatios that would go with it. Think, Things My Girlfriend and I Have Argued About, but from the female perspective).
So it's a shame to say, that bj2 is a wasted oppertunity. The acting is up to scratch and there are scenes where you will laugh out loud, but over all it's disappointing. But at least they're all making a few bucks out of it, eh?
