Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

It looks like the track has been tarred. Happy days.

Yeah, I was on it today. Tarred, beyond Streamstown anyway (as far as i went). Good job, as good as a road, 3 metres wide.

Both images show the tracks intact on the left or right of the tarred path.

The underbidges were built to accomodate a double track line so shouldn't be a problem

No, the bit I was on up near Streamstown, the cycleway cuts in and over the track because the underbridges weren't wide enough.

Public Notice in Westmeath Independent 29/8/15 p62:
    Westmeath County Council-Planning Notice
Shared Pedestrian and Cycleway Facility between the Athlone Marina and Garrycastle

Plans may be inspected in Athlone Civic Centre from 29/8 to 12/10.

In the same edition there is a news report headed:
First cycleway phase runs €3m over budget amid delays.

Was out for a cycle yesterday, just a quick stretch of the legs

    Quality surface.
A lot of people out cycling on it already

Yes its a bit straight and the landscape doesn't change much, but it is idea for those who don'd do much exercise with practically no incline.

Anybody know if it is finished to Athlone yet?

Had a look the other evening, still stoney gravel from Athlone to Moate station at the very least.

I drove by the White Gates at the weekend and there didn't look to be anything happening there yet.

Went for a spin on this on Saturday from Mullingar.

Went about 20k ish to between Streamstown and Rosemount.

    I've attached a few pictures.

It is a magnificent amenity to have and there were already many people out using it from all ages and families.

I "think" it is done as far as Garrycastle on the Mullingar side. But someone from that end of the track will have to verify that information for sure.

    I only went as far a Streamstown/Rosemount.

judging by how i felt on my cycle to work this morning i'd challenge that statement. could be a long afternoon in the saddle.
