Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

It's all about LM lads. I can spot an LM plate from miles away in Dublin, not too many of us Leitrimers around.

Oh lord that has to be the worst :P Work colleague has an 09 white audi a3 and the LM plate looks all wrong :pac:

Not at all, that was referring to a recent post when someone claimed Range Rovers are driven by pr1cks or drug dealers, I personally think they are fantastic car but got accused of picking a fight when I called the chap up on it :)

On review it seems he was referring to up to 2012 models

I'd agree with him... different plates just look better on cars

D top of the pile, especially on anything "premium" or upper end. Could probably live with CN as well

MH, DL, C, KE .. no chance.

I'd give real money if I could re-reg my current car .. 18 months on and it still bugs me! :P

have to say i think MH really suits my car, i think the plate sits great on it.

i agree with the thread to this point though, RN, KE, LH etc. all kind of don't sit well on a lot of cars. i think it's all to do with the format and balance of the overall number/ letter combo.

like 132-RN-2675 looks an awful lot better than say 91-RN-7710, that sounds weird, but yeah. the first format is a lot more balanced on the eye.

CN? You must be from Cavan presumably?
If so you can surely appreciate how people from every other county don't mind having their respective county on their reg plate.

Not all of us who drive LM plates are from Leitrim thankfully.

Betya that Merc in the op doesn't reside in Dublin, but it has a D reg!

Nope, from Dublin myself.. but I did live in Cavan for a while and I thought the reg plates just "looked" alright as an alternative to my preferred D

That's because - like it or not - a D "suits" a premium car better than any other reg.. hence also why some people will pay a bit more for one with it. Stuff like "better roads", "not rallied around backroads" etc is just the justification. :)

Seen a black 151 Seat Leon Cupra yesterday on the N4/M4

Then driving back home a 151 Ford Focus.

It doesn't bother me at all! I just don't understand it. Do the people in the car want people to think they are from Dublin? A good few of my rural friends insist on a D reg when buying new for resale reasons.

Does anyone have any idea who owns it?

I saw it posted on Bradys Castleknock facebook page.

Probably the owner of bradys Id say!

Car I had before this one was a D reg. Mechanic told me after getting it, oh be careful, Dublin reg, could be crashed or anything

All bar one of my cars have been C reg, none of them spent much time in Cork. I wouldn't get overly hung up on a cars reg County being an indication of condition. There are some I'd be weary about but you're buying the car and not the reg.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,863 ✭✭✭RobAMerc

imo a D reg doesnt add value to a car but a non D reg does devalue it, I think you close off a part of the market to yourself if you dont reg a car as a D.

By the way the photos of the S65 were taken in mullingar - I can think of one person from there who would be able to afford that sort of wedge. He may even have bought it for a family member or something.

Otherwise it could have been on a blast from Dublin for the day.

151 D Macan in Glendalough. Double first for me, first Macan I've seen and the first 15 plate.

    Not a pretty car imo.

I don,t see anything wrong with KE plates on a car after all it is one of the most beautiful counties in the Country. MH plates,LS and W plates all look good to me too.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

All the small mickey waving over county plates again!

I see the clever use of 141-D-142 has stuck with the same make this year. Last year was a RR, this year 151-D-152 is a Discovery.

If i have to see another Dacia Duster 151 I'll run it off the road.

    Hideous cars.

151 MO 70 White Seat Leon, although not an Fr, has nice upgraded alloys.

151 MO 71 Dark Red facelifted focus. Looks like the rear got a minor change too.

Still haven't seen a 151 car. I'll be out of Dublin next week and I'll probably see a few.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,875 ✭✭✭Foxhole Norman

Saw a nice 151-C-Something or Other Skoda Octavia VRS in White with black wheels and some red trim I think, lovely looking.

So I decided to leave it.

There are people out there that will buy one just so they can have a 151 plate and no regard taken of quality

151D Qashqai on Camden St at lunchtime.

I’m a foreigner so don’t know or understand much this plates snobbery. Never cared what letters are on plate of my car. Just from visual looks I always liked Sligo as XX-SO-XXX looks so good imo. Unfortunately, never had a car with SO plate. WW or W also look good.

On the topic, saw some toyota poobox this morning with 151D7

Saw a lovely Volvo in North Donegal the other day, can't quite remember its reg but it was 151-C-x, and the x was less than 10.

    Beauty too. Very jealous.
