Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Pixmania – Samsung TV

    Hi All,

I’m looking for some advice on a TV that I’m thinking of purchasing from

    www.pixmania.ie
    http://www.pixmania.ie/led-tv/samsung-ue46f6400-led-3d-smart-tv/21309106-a.html#rich_desc

The TV is a 46” Samsung. I actually have this exact model that I bought from an Irish retailer back in December already – however due to an accident the screen on my current TV has been damaged and I’ve been quoted €600 to replace it so it makes more sense to just replace the TV.
There’s one line in the TV description that is putting me off –

“This TV does not have a DVB-T2 tuner for Freeview HD capture.
SMART TV services may not be available in certain countries.
</SPAN></SPAN> This television is an imported item”

What does this mean? Does it not have the necessary tuner to receive the soarview channels here in Ireland?? I know that I already have this model of TV but are they spec’ed differently depending on the country they are intended for sale in?? As far as I know this TV will be coming from France? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Failing this TV meeting my requirements does anyone know of any good deals on 46” TV’s at the moment? I guess some electrical shops might have sales on over this bank holiday weekend – so I’ll keep an eye on them!

DVBT is for UK freeview (standard def) & DVBT2 is for UKs Freeview HD.

Saorview utilizes MPEG4 & MHEG5 for terrestrial so it's not to say the TV won't have these.

My understanding is French digital TV is called TNT but it falls under the umbrella of DVB and therefore should work here without issue. (Might want to research that further)

For 640e there is plenty of official UK/ROI models that you could look at it

Thanks for your reply AndersKP. I've been onto pixmania and they came back just this morning confirming that the necessary tuner was installed and that Smart TV services would work in Ireland.

Just on your last point - do you have any links or suggestions for sites/shops where I can purchase an official ROI model TV to the spec of this Samsung at a similar price? This would be my preferred option but to date I have failed to find a TV of this spec at a similar price!! Thanks.

Plenty of great stores but not many offer the price and ext warranty that you get with Richer.

I'm a bit of an anorak though, if it has a plug I want to buy from a bricks and mortar shop.
