Hey, I am a starter web designer, and I was just wondering about general ways you use.

    1) How do you come up with colors? Do you use the triad, complement, analogic color wheel theory/way. Or just personal preference?

    2) How do you come up with font styling? Did you study typography or what?

That's basically the only problems I run into always :D

With regards to colour I mostly use my own colour themes but sometimes if you are looking for inspiration, a good place to go is Kuler: http://kuler.adobe.com/

I did study typography as a part of a module in college but it was mostly nonsense for me - I don't need to know what sans-serif stands for and I was rarely introduced to fonts other than the basics. In my opinion, just keep the font-families simple. I'd find flashy fonts off-putting. That being said, I have used Google fonts is some of my projects but there are cross browser issues that you will need to deal with. http://www.google.com/webfonts

As Deliverance said, http://kuler.adobe.com is a great resource, use the dominant colour in your customers coprporate brand as the base colour and then pick the palette (triad, complementary, monochromatic, analogous, compound, shades etc.) that you think suits the project best.
