Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hard wired usb slot

I'm thinking of hard-wiring a usb slot into my car using the 12v supply left over from an old Nokia hands f free kit. This will allow me to hide the slot, as I'm hoping to modify an iPod charging stand to fit into one of the nooks near my arm rest, and this will be connected to the usb slot behind the dash.

This will give me a location for the ipod, charging, and best of all hidden wiring.

However I'd like the option of turning off the charge function when I don't need it, so I thought a simple toggle switch.

Question is, can I simply wire in the toggle switch on the positive line of the circuit?

Are there any other issues at play I may have overlooked?

As an aside I also hope to change the cigarette lighter to a hard wire usb for occasional phone charging etc

So you only need it for charging? I got a Belkin usb cig docket adaptor, it fits neatly in the socket.

Have something similar, but i like the idea of hiding everything away

Add a hidden socket, plug the adaptor yoke into that.
