Borrow, Beg and steal from friends, Failing that in order of value quality and cheapness - TK Maxx, Kildare outlet village (North Face, tOG 24), Snow and Rock, Great Outdoors and 53 Degrees norths.

Try to get to Ski Club of Ireland or Ski Centre before you go to get a head start.

Rent the cheapest skis you can get and the mid price boots.

    Wear Sunscreen

    Enjoy yourself

    Where are you going?

See the sticky at the top of the page - winter sports FAQ

That should answer most of your questions then if you have anything more specific then ask away!

For a tear in the seam, any regular tailor will be fine, you don't need a specialist :-)

If they are waterproofed you will need them reseated to ensure they remain so. You can get tape to go over it after a regular tailor makes the repair.

But any repairs will impact the levels of waterproofing going forward

And if all else fails, duct tape ;-)

http://www.sportpursuit.com/ have some great deals on them at the moment, they can take a while to deliver though.
