Opel Corsa Steering problem

Evening all, Quick query on a 01 corsa. Steering is a little bit hard at the moment. Fine on the roads and general driving but if i try to do a 3 point turn it takes a bit of muscle. Is there a diy fix or is this a garage job? Thanks

Sounds like power steering. Is there a screech on full lock?
Has it gotten worse over the last while?

no noise from it that i can recall but it has gotten worse alright.

It is probably something that I could get sorted when its up for a service but im trying to do as much as possible myself.

is there a reservoir to be topped up with power steering fluid or is it a bit more complex?

Er, are these not electric motor assist on the column, rather than old-school engine pump and hydraulic rack.
