Which Email provider are you looking for the phone settings for?

As Gmail,Hotmail etc. Fill in server details automaticly when setting up an email address through the phones email client.

im using eircom as my default account.i can receive but cant send e mails

Here's the settings for eircom email:

    Mail server type: POP3
    Incoming mail server: webmail.eircom.net
    Outgoing mail server*: mail1.eircom.net

However, i didn't think you'd be able to connect to the outgoing mail server?
But since Eircom own Meteor/eMobile, maybe you can?

    * You'd probably need the Meteor smtp server but I don't think they have one?

    For outgoing (Eircom)

    SMTP server : smtp.gmail.com

    Security:SSL

    Port 465

    And your login and password

    Works perfect on my S2

thanks but why would i be using gmail when its an eircom account. i tried the smtp..... gmail.com and eircom.net and still no joy

As BearNecessities states Meteor don’t have a smtp server.

Gmail offers a free portable one.

    My Incoming Eircom settings

    pop.eircom.net

    Port 110

These settings work for me ?? Been using them over a year now.

    Thanks for that info Sharp.

Since you use Eircom mail - does the from/reply-to address still get re-written to the gmail account address?
Or does the "fix" in the link work to stop this?

cheers for your help in all this.but it worked fine with eircom before i got it fixed.ill just drop it into them.cheers

BearNecessities , your correct, when you reply or send a mail from the Eircom address it is rewritten to the Gmail address.

But its the only work around I have found.

it will work on your eircom wifi, not on 3G.
eircom have never supported outgoing connections on their pop server to non-eircom ip addresses.
