Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi all,

As a kid we did this every summer - one or maybe two nights there.

I do not know whether or not it was allowed back then, but it was pretty obvious what we were doing with our box of food and sleeping bags and tent, and nobody ever stopped us.

I am wondering if it is still possible to do this these days? Is it limited to day trips only, and if so, is staying overnight something that will cause trouble, or willa a blind eye be turned to it?

    Thanks.

    Hi Osarusan

The owners of the Saltees have banned overnight stays - see the link here.

Did you have your own boat to go out there?

It's private property so might be worth trying to contact the owners to ask.

Hi and thanks for the replies.

I think that overnight stays were always prohibited, but 25 years ago at least, the person running the boat (Willie Bates?) simply turned a blind eye to campers - there were always a few camping whenever we stayed there. As I said, we used to turn up obviously prepared to camp there, and nobody ever said anything.

Who runs the boats these days? It might be worth contacting them to see if things have changed.
