Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Feeling 'connected' to TV/Reality-TV characters/people?

Me and my sister were watching the TV there the other day, if youve ever seen MTV one of the more decent shows on it is Laguna Beach, its a sort of pseudo-reality TV-sitcom series about a group of attractive late-teen upper class americans and their ever changing life situation.

Anyway, she was explaining how she watching it alone a few days previously and one of the characters/people said some joke and that she started laughing and thinking "oh thats so something he would say, hes so funny"... and that one of the girls on it got back with her ex my sister found herself with a huge smile on her face and felt so happy for the girl! like she really felt a connection with these people! this a show that was filmed about four years ago on the west coast of america and has probably been repeated ten times since!

Seen as its coming into Big Brother season, does anyone else find they actually connect with these randomers on telly that they have never met or interacted with? Or is my sister just a loon.

I used to watch Laguna Beach 'cause the girls were hot.

Big Brother is the single worst thing on television, seriously.

As for "feeling a connection" with those on screen, no, absolutely not.

Well maybe, does wanting to kill them count?

    It's a really sad mindset.

It happens with "fans" of English football too, by the way.

And probably on a much, much, much larger scale than their reality tv counterparts.

Nah, I hate everybody on TV. :pac:

I think the title 'Big Brother' is supposed to be ironic. Nineteen-Eighty-Four was actually good.

    Unlike the show Big Brother.

    That's the gag.

Really makes you feel old doesn't it... back when they were near constant music throughout the day, just a little bit of chat and adverts, only after 9 did they start sticking on stuff like Beavis and Butthead, Singled Out, The Lick, etc... *nostalgic*:o

Mtv should have kept producing Top Buzzer. Probably the only decent programme on their network.

Sounds like someone needs to get out and play with their real friends!!

and wth has happened to MTV... it should be called STV for shitTV as the only music on it now is a fecking rabbit or frog chirping on the screen looking for you to text them... oh and Tila Tequila... hell yeah :pac:
