Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I remember a nun from my convent school days, she was called Immaculata.

Some weird parents, for reasons of "snobbery", give their kids strange names. When these kids go to school, they may as well have a sign round their necks saying "Beat the sh1t outta me."

A person I know of has named her children Rupert, Velvet and Octavia.

Wrong, a great aunt of mine is called Consepta, although it's always been 'Septa.
Some woman who used to work for my mother years ago was called Assumpta.
Neither are nuns or have much else to do with the church, barring being born in catholic Ireland at a time when it was fashionable to call your child that.

So, semi OT, how long before some boardsie wanders in and takes offence at their name being mentioned...or are most of them likely to just keep it buttoned for fear of more abuse?

My boyfriend went to school with a girl called Theresa Green :)

I went to school with a Dorcas also. I wonder if she is the same one everyone else knows?
It's a shame that her name became an American slang term during her childhood.

Considering the high number of Johns in the world and probably on boards too and it has already been mentioned. I'm sure nobody here would get offended because somebody else thinks there name is crap.

Well let's face it, if you've got a problem with the name John, you've got more issues than the people with that name. I was talking more long the lines of the left-of-field ones.

Terrence is a lovely name BTW...
