If a person who is currently doing a Postgraduate course and seems to qualify for the tax back, but has paid the fees in installments (1 in September, 1 in January) What tax year would be put on the application form?

Would they be able to get tax back on both installments, or just 1? On the form it has space for the Academic year (i.e. 2014-2015) but for the tax year it only has space for 1 year (i.e. 2015) So which would be written there?

This would be vitally important to this person and any information or advice anyone could give would be very much appreciated.

Its too late now, but they really should have been paid in the one tax year in order to maximise tax relief. The first €3k (full time), or€1.5k (part time) is not eligible for tax relief.
