Arrogance In Ignorance (Emigration)

I havent been on here in a while because I had to make my way to the other side of the planet. The reason I feel so compelled to start this thread is because I see no end in posts about how crap the Irish economy has become. I now find myself in Brazil.

First and foremost, while to quote ^The Germans are pissed, the Irish are usually pissed and the rest of the Eurozone are pissing their pants^ better describes the situation more transparently than I ever could, this generation feels like its the end of the world as we know it. All I want to say to those people is that life runs in cycles. It wasnt that far back when our fellow countrymen and indeed, the majority of other European countries were making their way across the pond to the Americas in search of a better life. Europe has been on its knees before and rekindled that thousands year old drive, ambition and certain spark that makes this continent so great and respectable.

Our situation is this, we have fallen again but our slowing down means huge strides for other nations. Yes, Europe and the U.S are declining but countries like China, India, Russia and Brazil are coming on no end. As I look out my apartment window I dont see any sign of recession. I see two hundred story buildings being constructed as far as the eye can see, competitivness on the global market and the ever increasing value of the currency. Just like it was Americas time two hundred years ago, it is these nations time now. Europe will come good again, so dont worry.

I left Ireland for many reasons. The main one being that I couldnt find work and being on the dole gave me a feeling of worthlessness. I wanted to do something, anything. And I didnt find working a ****ty job which I was over educated for and paying tax to a Government to bail out a banking institution that got me into this mess in the first place very appealing. I dont see those who emigrate as people who jumped ship. People need some quality in their life and right now, Ireland cannot provide that for me.

I think the attitude of the new generation sucks. Yes, we have the subconcious thought that if we dont work, food will still be put on the table, other countries are not so lucky. There is a serious lack of education back home among the people about how an economy works. They have borrowed and borrowed and now that its time to pay it back, we pull a hissyfit. Shame on you.

Ireland is nothing. We have no impact on how the world revolves day and night so why do we have this god forsaken holier than thou attitude. We are not self-sustainable and our infrastructure sucks. We are nothing. So I actually being aware of this, decided to get up off my ass and actually do something about my life. When a Government comes to power with ideals I can support, then I will preach the good deeds we need to do as a people to promote the best for us, as a society and as a nation.

I left Ireland for around 7 years but returned because even with all it's faults I missed the auld place.
