DVD+R Double Layer vs DVD-R Double Layer

I just checked on my DVD rom will burn/write DVD+R Double Layer disc's.. Whats different to the DVD-R double layer? Will there be a playing issue ? Also i take it that Double layer and Dual layer is the same thing?
